Diseased faces twist in the wind
Wipe up the froth that emits forth
Lest it pockmark their swollen cheeks
Alone they hunger behind their walls
Lamenting for the days they've lost
Their wailing gives you directions to their lair
Haunted eyes tell of a secret story
They're all alone
Clutching their reward to their chests
A useless token for how quickly it took
To work themselves into ghosts
All friends and family lost
But "worthy" since they worked til they dropped
Gaining nothing, but their two week pittance
Therapy can't bring them back
Hair, all torn out and lying at their feet
To get at the stabbing voices
That whisper of how much of THEIR money the government abused
Happiness frittered away to become slaves
That's how the system works
Squeezes you dry and leaves you lifeless
Money and elaborate monuments cannot quench the emptiness
This batches productivity has ended
And the new batch is ready to take their place
With dreams and eagerness they start
Not knowing they will soon be sucked dry
Not knowing they will soon be forgotten
And will end up like their tormented predecessors
Their dreams and aspirations will fade,
But by then it will be to late to get out

A few spelling errors and apostrophes missing, but otherwise an interesting write. Those who put their faith in the $ will end with nothing. Sad, huh?

Hey Joel
Nice to see another one written. It is definitely pessimistic
like you said. :P But somehow that's how I'm feeling right now
so I like it a fair bit. Good job. I'm pretty tired or else I'd say more,
sorry.
Nice job again,
~Waos/Kara |

There is no one in this world that has not been pessimistic in their lives... It's a way of living, it is a part of us, and there will always be things that we'll view negatively.
Exquisite piece, like a perfectly aged wine. Deliciously morbid, enchanting, and a darkness that so becomes you and your style. Gorgeous flow, a look through someone elses eyes, simply divine. Your talent shines radiantly through this horrifying yet beguiling dark write. Merci, Joel... for this breath-taking work of art. Always a pleasure reading your poetry. All my love. Forever,
Your friend and fan,
Stephy. ~*Fleur*~ |
