Glass Parade

I can see them dancing
On perfect steps of glass
Silk costumes flowing gently
Each wearing an icy mask.
A perfect place it seems
Wrapped in perfect form
And yet I am encased
Inside the walls of a storm.
They dance around me
This perfect glass parade
Each taking off their mask
Revealing a face, decayed.
Here I am completely trapped
Inside the thundered flame
Kowing I am forever lost
And never being the same.
Seeking an out somewhere
But never completing the task
Always being held back
By my own fear made mask.
I rip at my mask
The coldness freezes my hands
The mask stays in place
Reluctant to my demands.
I pull away a piece of ice
Flesh pulling off with it
Drops of blood fall endlessly
Forming a puddle where I sit.
I make for my escape
A door encased with hate
Passing the foggy way
Drawing near my fate.
A touch of the door
Sends lightning through my heart
It spreads throughout my body
And then my world is dark.
So have I made my escape
From this hated cave?
I awake and find I'm lost
Inside a deadly maze.
I cry as I walk
Only knowing to follow my feet
Not knowing where I am going
Or who I'm going to meet.
I fall into a puddle
It engulfs my whole body
It's the blood from my mask
The tears of a nobody.
I am calm, but know
That I cannot find a breath
Waiting in silence
For my certain death.
I open my eyes to find
I'm engulfed in a cloud
No longer in a bloody puddle
A glass parade to be found.
I'm once again trapped
Inside a clouded form
Always locked and bolted
Inside the fury of a storm.

Long but certainly worth the read. I like the imagery... it reminds me a little of something from Lamb Lies Down on Broadway or just a little of Dante's Divine Comedy. |

My favourite poems are the long ones this was beautiful and VERY well written. My favourite line is "The tears of a nobody" You aren't a nobody it u can write such amazing poems as these. I loved the passion and pain you put in this poem. I've felt like this many times. Keep up these poems.
