Have you ever had a dead man in you?
Have you ever had a sick person in your heart,
An unbathed man laying inside you,
A starving creature stuck with you.
Have you ever held a dying man in your arms?
Have you ever had a man bleeding in your heart,
A man drowning himself in his own blood,
A man crying so hard your heart shed tears too.
Could you see the man?
Laying naked in your heart,
Cold, alone and unloved.
Could you feel the man?
Feel the hurt he’s been through,
Betrayal, rejection and loss.
Could you smell him?
Smell the filth on his body,
The dirt under his nails,
The dried blood around his cuts,
The tearstains soaked in the bottom of your heart.
Can you taste him?
Taste the last meal he ate so long ago,
The sourness of his breath,
The unwashed flavor of his teeth,
The blood oozing out of his veins.
Can you hear him?
Hear his cries of terror,
The sound of sharp glass opening skin,
The sound of a slowing heartbeat,
The sound of tears beating at the floor.
Have you ever had a dead man in you?
Have you ever held a sick person in your heart?
Have you ever had a bleeding man in your arms?
Have you ever felt like a dying man?
Have you carried all your pain,
Have you held on to all your memories,
Have you memorized each cut,
Have you saved every tear?
Have you ever felt just like a dying man?
Have you ever walked around
With him inside you.
Have you ever went on with your day-to-day business
Knowing he’s in there.
Have you ever felt like this man
While having him lay in your heart?
He died didn’t he?
You heard his heart stop,
You saw his face relax.
But he still bleeds
Doesn’t he?
He still cries,
You still watch his memories,
Taste his pills,
Feel his cuts,
Smell his filth.
Does he ever leave?
Will he ever leave?
Have you ever lived with a dead person inside you?
If so, please tell me how.
Because I don’t think you can.
