Betty the Blackbird

Contributed by chatabox on Saturday, 20th July 2002 @ 10:37:03 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

I`ve met a lady blackbird
Betty is her name,
Her home is my back garden
and she really is quite tame.

When I am outside weeding
or hanging washing on the line,
she flaps her wings and scolds me
To let me know its time.

No juicy worms or beetles
No spiders slugs or ants
As Betty has a liking
for sultanas and currants

So we set off for my kitchen
she hops upon the shelf,
I open up the currant tin
and let her help herself.

And when she`s eaten all she can
she hops to my back door,
then regular as clockwork
she poos upon my floor.
