Alas, I am but resigned,
That thee are only partly mine,
How sad that another life thou hast,
And we shared not our lives in the past.
So fear not that my heart
wilt go astray,
but knoweth that I yearn for thee
each day.
And rememberth that despite the pain,
My love for thee is not in vain.
For in my heart you hath dwelt,
one look and my soul ye hath melt.
If I hath but one regret,
It is that thee
I could not earlier have met.
Oh, that thee would this behold,
I dreampt that together we would grow old.
Knoweth this…
Thou art my every thought’s desire.
Thou set my very spirit on fire,
Thou art my life’s inspire,
Of your love,
I shalt never tire.
In this world there art many beauties to see,
But none so very lovely as thee.
Apart a thousand fortnights we shalt be,
Yet nearer will my heart be to thee.
For time and distance cannot separate,
a love that is born true…though late.
So in my heart will thine longing stir
For I knoweth our time shall again recur.
And thy tenderness again shall be mine to claim,
To hold and caress…but thy passion…to never tame.
So, my most precious passion cup,
Hold thy remembrances of me…
And once again,
from your soul, I will sup.
And from thine lips will I drinketh of thee.
