A Valentine Thought for the One I Love

A Valentine’s memory that won’t be there,
a time with you I cannot share.

The only gift that I can give
Is to think of you each moment I live.

And though each thought is so deeply treasured,
the void in my heart cannot be measured…

Though today, my love I cannot show
Please, deep within, in that secret place,
always know.

I miss everything about you so very much,
The sound of your voice.
Your gentle touch.

A million miles away, I often feel.
And struggle to remember that you are real.

I miss you my love,
so tender and sweet,
the one who alone,
makes my heart skip a beat.

Apart, so much, I fear the wait,
your heart I do trust,
is sealed to my fate.

So, I sit here all alone,
thinking your name.
Dreaming of us together,
hoping you’re doing the same.

I’ll write about my sorrow,
I’ll write about my pain.
And whence comes the morrow,
I’ll try to shed it like the rain.

Since time with you is too short,
this is my desire…
To hold you in my arms,
Of that I never tire.

The shadow of your heart,
it pierces my soul.
I wonder if you know,
what great power you hold?

There is no doubt,
As I reason this out,
that those who love much,
risk hurt that comes from such.

How can I deal
with my lonely duress,
When my heart cries out
for your caress?

Keep me close,
How long? You say.
How about forever,
And a day?

My heart is true.
This you know.
It’ll be with you,
Wherever you go.

So, whether here or there,
Together or not.
From now on my heart is yours,
That’s my lot.
