Even in my sleep
You're no longer there
Even in my sleep
Of this, I am aware
My heart's in my throat
And I don't want to eat
I feel distant and remote
And I can barely sleep
Everyday I try
To make it through unscathed
So I can close my eyes
Unconsciousness, take me away
The problem that exists
Is I must awaken
The pain that persists
Not to be shaken
As consciousness dawns,
The weight does increase
From pounds to tons
And tears, I must release
Waking in this manner
A depressing start to the day
How to change it over
To a brighter shade of gray?
Do you still love me?
Have you been scared away?
Don't give up on me!
Please come back to stay!
