Lying Down With My Eyes Open

The cheap ciggarette wedged between her wry fingers
that she just cracked
with palpable gratification.
Ashes tipped over impatiently
into caustic nothingness.
A spiral of smoke sears the not so celibate afternoon air
but no combustion takes place.
What is in this mingled intensity
that haunts me
in my unisolated habitation of inertia ?
She stretches her body plastered with inclinations
but not flustered
for she in her perpetual sleeping clothes is already unwound.
She speaks redolently
of the habits she simply cannot kick in a spectacular
triumphant resolution
like a pyrotechnique display
razzle dazzle into the effernescence of the night
Soon it will be too hot and claustrophobic to react .
Was it just an instant I was searching for?

Wow.
I've read two of your poems now and I see already that you're a spectacular poet. I can feel the heat radiating in this poem. It's actually inspiring me to write one of my own. Maybe not quite as good as yours, but it's an idea and it's inspirational.
You've really shown me a lot in just these two poems.
Fare well, my friend. Continue the art.
Lots of love and peace be with you,
Chelsea |
