Ive kept her here
Its been so long
She sits at her piano
So still, So cold
Its been so long since shes played for me
But when her playing began
I stood by her
And held my breath
And it seemed to me
That she played for me alone
She said to me
That shed never leave me
So Ive kept her here
And now they pound on the door
What could be behind it
The mother is crying
The father is beating me
And no one here believes me
That I am deathly ill
From the sorrow and the stench
She is still here
Slumped over dusty keys
She played for me once
But that was so long ago
But when her playing began
I stood by her
And held my breath
And it always seemed
That she played for me alone
I played for her once, and i still do
WIth her corpse beside me
In its most beautiful dress
And when my playing began
She stood by me
And held her breath
