As I pick at myself,
exposing the flesh of mortality
I then realize an empty void
a void that can never be filled
a thought of endless time
and nothing but emptiness
What can make me feel alive?
I can never open myself
others struggle to know me
nothing but hidden mysteries
I cannot escape my own hold
as I struggle with my own backlash
a war amongst my innerself
Why am I a prisoner of my own behalf?
Smothered by my insecurities
I live on the thin grasp of false hope
curled~up in a corner
shivering in a cold sweat
rocking back and forth
praying for my life to end
When will my deedless deed be heard?

This is a very well written poem. I've felt this way numerous times....that feeling of complete and utter sadness that seems can never be cured. You expressed yourself well in this write. And things always get better. Trust me. :-) |

This has to be one of the best poems I've read in a long time. This emotion is one that most feel from time to time.
When I read the line "Why am I a prisoner of my own behalf?" I keep thinking of Creed's My Own Prison, ya know? But anyways, I'm getting off subject. Excellent poem! 5 out of 5! |

This is a very vivid and powerful picture, a picture of what so many hearts struggle with. Very well-written. May your road rise up.
