LoveRemembered

The winter wind nips at my cheeks
Stinging them red
I sit on a park bench
Awaiting him
I notice you walking down the sidewalk
Your coat collar turned up to block the wind
Your eyes are the same
Though aged by the many yearsIt's been so long
You say as you reconize me
I smile at your face
A ring around your finger
Tells me you've moved on
You sit next to me
And we talk and laugh about the past
Time has taught us much
You ask me if I've been alright
I frown but tell the truth
Every night since you left
I had thought of us
And what could have been
I tell you of him
And of the promise he made
You stop smiling at this
I know it is hard
Because you couldn't keep yours
I forgive you
You relax at that statment
But I feel glad that you're back
Even though we've both have moved on

I can relate very well with this poem, but I wonder do exlovers ever really move on.I have been there with years now past and some hurt seems to always remain.I found this poem with a touch of happiness, but mostly felt the sadness of what could have been.Good poem.
