I used to wonder why, grandaddy cried.
Everytime, I saw him kneal' and pray in my life.
He would always stand, and wipe away.
The tears from his eye's, when he knealt and prayed.
Yes,I used to wonder why, grandaddy cried.
For the things of this world, he never cared.
But he never forgot his family, in his prayers.
There with a tear in his eyes, and with an aching heart,
that had been broken wide,I used to wonder why grandaddy cried.
Well the hardest road, I've ever had to walk
Was one I never dreamed, would have ever thought.
When a precious daughter, turned away.
From the family that loved her, and the way she was raised.
I used to wonder why grandaddy cried!
