Stars Separate Us

Contributed by waos on Thursday, 10th February 2005 @ 10:41:13 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

Stars crowned us, alone
beneath the endless expanse of glitter
waiting to fall on our upturned faces;
waiting for the moment,
the connection.

Stars crashed around us,
I pulled them down upon our shoulders -
festering craters ate away time,
keeping me from you -
I couldn't get to you.

Stars are my memories
beneath the overhanging trees
and against the chipping yellow paint;
shining in the darkness draped opon us,
an unquenchable, unremovable entity of itself.

Stars are the feelings;
beneath the same sky -
yet never in the same view.
Nestled in our separate spaces
I search in vain for you.

Stars are the watchmen,
illuminating foggy breath
from whispered desires and fears -
comforting in distance and stability -
holding all the pain thrown their way.

Stars are the only hope left,
like a whispering whistle on the air
eloquently simple requests rest -
trying in vain to make life fair,
trying in vain not to fall and fail.

Stars crowned us just to crash
in a tide of memory,
of feeling;
watching hope alone,
refusing to fade away.

~Waos - for the memories we made

god Kara this was so beautiful and deep and
sad. You just opened yourself up with such
honesty and it almost hurt to read it. Seriously
a great poem Kara... set your sights HIGH
instead of low this poem is just one example
of why you should.
