What do you see when you gaze into these dark, glaring eyes?
I have seen the pain, the torture, the suffering, and the cries.
What is remorse? I know no such thing,
God knows the hell these hands can bring.
My weapon is fear, and my aim is true,
I reek of the death of six million Jews.
I see innocence, and I strip it away,
Its nectarine essence keeps my insatiable appetite at bay.
I prey upon the young, the weak, the distraught,
But no identity have I, for I am yet I am not.
I am the wind, forceful yet unseen,
I am hate, evil, and greed.
I’m born of fire, of darkness, of night,
I hide, and cover, and bury the light.
I lurk in the shadows, I pray on the weak,
With me in your world, your future is bleak.
Victims are you, who do my will,
No sorrow, no love, only anger you feel.
The children yelled, the babies cried,
You used them all to fuel your fires.
You used those fires to keep out the cold,
You shamed and abused six million souls.
That gift of life you took away,
You raped it, left it, torn and frayed,
And went on to another the very next day.
Who am I? Well who are you?
You slaughtered and killed six million Jews.
Yet you feel nothing, save for a thought,
“Am I guilty, or am I not?”
Yes, you’re guilty! You heeded the call!
And the Prince of Darkness feels nothing for you, young soldier,
He feels nothing at all.

Wow, what an amazing tribute this was very powerful and well written, but its not only Jews who died like 20 million Russians were also slaughtered, but very good poem. Nothing more needs to be said...

Very sad, and very powerful. The line "Yes, you're guilty! You heeded the call!" reminds me of something I heard in a psychology class about obediance. When Adolf Eichmann was tried for his war crimes, his main defense was that he was just following orders. This, sort of inspired Milgram's experiment to test the extent to which people will follow orders. It was a very controversial experiment, and some of the results are unnerving. |

Its probably my fault that i forgot to mention that the poem was written about a single picture in particular. It just happened to be of a Jewish boy next to a soldier. I thank you, though, for pointing out that fact. I didn't mean to give the impression that I deliberately excluded the others. |

That is a beautiful and powerful poem. I'm sure that the families of the victims would be very moved by this poem, and that the souls of the victims aresoothed by the fact that people still do care. |

Well, I'll compliment this by saying I was 3/4s of the way through it and I never even realised it rhymed, I was so taken in.
You have a real talent.
Excellent poem. |
