The Dreamer's Fire

Contributed by TheSchroedmeister on Wednesday, 11th December 2002 @ 05:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Don't cry when the rain falls,
Heavy, though, it is,
Rest assured the clouds will part,
And reveal a brighter day.

Desire burns within your soul,
Stifle it if you dare,
But the mind cannot retard the flame,
The walls will come crashing down.
Instead stoke that fire with the fuel of dreams,
Increase the heat ten fold,
For in the end, if you don't,
The ashes will remain,
The intense heat now cold.

And if the rain extinguishes that aspiring flame,
For aspiration be its maker,
Protect the coals,
Still smoldering and warm,
So as to rebuild that fire.
And defect from the ranks of apathy,
Less apathy be your desire,
For carelessness fuels not the dreamer's flame,
And tis not the friend of fire.

So wait for the sun to shine again,
And continue on life's rocky shore,
Aspire, ponder, hope, and dream,
For we are all human,
Nothing less, and nothing more.

Sorry for pinging your poem so much. I was doing an experiment and your poem just happened to be the one I picked. I liked it, though.

Good advice right through your very delightful poem.
For we are all human,
Nothing less, and nothing more.

How true.

bernard.
