Mask of Deception

Contributed by FleurdeSang on Thursday, 10th February 2005 @ 03:34:49 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

The mask of deception,
Forever adhered to your face...

All a lie,
The image you portrayed for me,
The love that you proclaimed,
The father that you thought you were...

And here we are again,
Doing the same dance over and over,
Cat chases mouse, mouse chases cat...
An ever-changing cycle,
But it all ends the same...

Your greedy hands roaming every inch,
Your eyes all over me,
And the endless 'lessons' that I will never learn...

I can't remember when it all started,
I honestly can't remember life before it all began...
My childhood was ripped away from me at an early age,
Blissful recollections tend to slip by without my noticing...

And when I want to reflect on something good,
There is nothing...
There is only...you, the monster...
Everything links back to you,
A smell, a name, a touch...
I can never seem to get away from you,
And these horrid memories...

My days have been dragging,
I feel so dreadfully lonely,
I smile less...
But I still wear my own mask of deception...

I feel it coming,
Drawing ever nearer...

Dark...cold...depression...

I would bathe and keep you within the light of the moon, if it could hold the demons of depression at bay. There would be no further need for a mask and you could finally throw it away.

Steph, I have yet to read something from you that doesn't drag me right outta where I thought I was headin' and spin me about with a renewed focus and compelling thoughts.

A poem that is hard to read, but yet holds you
for every word. An excellently written poem
that forces the reader to empathize with the
person depicted in your poem. I liked how you
said that the mask of deception was adhered
to your face that was some cool imagery as
well as very poetic.

This should never have happened to you Steph. You were an innocent child. A monster is what he is to have hurt you so deeply. I want to hold you in my arms. I feel your pain it is immense.

A powerful heartfelt write

Praying things get better for you my friend

lots of love Sweetangelukxxxx
