Winter Blues

Winter Blues
~~~~
Outside the snow floats through the air
Like cottonballs without a care
Dancing to a wintry song
That tends to last a little too long
Old man winter creeps out his head
And I listened closely to what he said
In a few short words, he reminded me
Don’t be surprised at what you see
For I have no plans to sleep until summer’s dawn
It’ll be until late April for the snow to be gone
With a smile and a grunt he disappeared
But his lasting warning was something I feared
For you see I’m way too tired of this wintry freeze
I’m far too impatient for the warm summer breeze
So I look at the window and watch it snow
And look at the calendar at how slow the days go
I wish I had a genie that could grant me a wish
From my window would be gone this wintry bliss
The sun would shine and the day would be warm
And from my office chair I would sit and squirm
I like this poem a lot, being it that I moved to california and it has only once ever snowed here. You really managed to hold the image of winter.
Good job. ;-)
