Ashes

Contributed by yellow_sundragon on Wednesday, 9th February 2005 @ 09:57:04 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

A symbol on my forehead
A prayer within my heart
A sign for all the sheep He led
A place for Lent to start

You wore a crown of thorns for me
And I, a cross for you
You died to let my soul be free
And through my faith in you, it grew

From dust we were created
From the very earth we came
To the Fall we were fated
Paradise is ours to reclaim

These ashes on my forehead
Cleanse me, who was flawed
And tell you, who for me was bled,
How much I love you, God.

It is beautiful. It doesn't come off as your first attempt. You did a wonderful job on this poem.

What a sweet poem. It is simple, like faith is supposed to be. Great job!!
