Maid Mary Christmas saw a poor bird,
His wing had been broken with spite.
She picked the bird up and carried it home,
And prayed that she could make it right.
She laid it before her with everfelt care
And bound the wing back as it was
Then tied it to sticks and gave it a kiss
And loved it and served her lord’s cause.
