He pleaded for mercy
He screamed with terror
He cried out in agony
He didn't open his mouth.
He didn't need to
Because looking at the boy
Really looking
You could see it
See the words of a God that had failed him
Of a grandparent that had deicieved him
Of a light that had been dimmed
A laugh that had been silenced
You could see the boy's pain.
This is for my best friend, my cousin and my confidant.
This is for Eli who lost his mother only 8 months ago.
