When you get to college
and finally realize you're free
You want to try all the things
And see all there is to see.
Mommy and Daddy kept you bottled up
Not letting you see the world
And now your mother's crying
Cuz she's loosing her little girl.
Midterms finally came
and all the stress did too
Alcohol relieved the problems
And caused some problems too.
That friday night party
was a big relief
And then that guy asked you to dance
Which was something beyond belief.
He led you on the dance floor
and then onto the step
Alcohol blurred your vision
And left you defenceless.
After having some fun
You wanted to go home
You found your keys in your purse
And turned that old car on.
Being behind the wheel
at 2:30 in the morning
Hitting that big rig truck
And see that bright light coming.
Thinking about your mom
And wondering what she'd do
She's loosing her baby girl
And your father is too.
Her car was totaled
Folded sideways and then again up.
Looking down on what had happened
Being lifted to above.
When asked what to write
On her grave stone that one day
Her mom came up with something
While tears had slipped away.
"Loving daughter
and a dearest friend,
because I drank the Alcohol,
I will not be seen again."
This is a lesson
to all who drink and drive
think of what you'll be missing
If you go into the sky.
