There Is Only You

Topic: dedicatedpoems

On a more personal note than what we've had lately,
I'd say one of those hugs you used to offer up would be great sometime in the near future.
I've gone 49 days and counting without your touch and taste.
I've past patience and beyond lonely in some distant hallway on one of those days.
I have yet to give in, though, because there is no temptation.
There is only you.
***
I go to school and work and home.
I drudge up the energy to keep going...
I know what you're doing,
and I bet you're happy
even without me.
But I miss you anyway,
especially today.
I have yet to hurt any less, though, because my love is true.
No matter the time,
there is only you.
***
Your name is at the beginning of every sentence in my head,
my heart won't let me say it,
but the silence feels like death.
I've tried denying and forgetting and a hundred other things
but these 49 days have almost killed me.
I have yet to accept the truth, though, because I think you do still care.
And it isn't really fair, but
it's still only you there.

As always, I understand the feelings and remember those days. Would it do any good to tell you that one day, he will only be every other thought and then only every third..every sixth and on and on? I don't know if that helps, but I do know that putting pen to paper does and that when you do, you say things that are true, real, and full.

Expressive in it's heartfelt content. Sometimes they fade out of our heads and sometimes they don't. I had trouble with my first real love, but then he was the father of my daughter and we bonded so early that it was harder to get over, even after 20 years. It took another let-down of his character and his dying to really get me free of him - finally. Which still feels wierd after all this time of obsession. Ooops.back to the poem - well written, and I hope you get through this. Blessings.
