Beware the Dream Eaters

Beware, dear friends, beware the dream eaters!
They gnaw, they gnash, they bite.
Beware their masks of good intent that hide such ugly faces.
Beware their hands, though soft at first, that claw and rip and tear.
Beware their feet that walk beside you, then trip you up and kick you.
Beware their words that unarm you and expose you to your enemies.

Beware, dear friends, beware the dream eaters!
They pinch, they punch, they clobber.
Beware their sweet convincing words, dripping poisoned honey.
Beware their empty promises sworn by rank and rancid breaths.
Beware their kind condolences spewed from loathsome festering lips.
Beware the friendly hand on your shoulder, for it inches towards your throat.

Beware, dear friends, beware the dream eaters!
They murder, they pillage, they plunge.
They salughter your ambitions in the dark of night, and leave the carcasses on your doorstep.
They steal away your desires and drown them in the icy sea of impossibility.
They lash to your shoulders the burden of fear, until you crumble beneath its weight.
They stab your soul with fiery darts of betrayal, until you can't even trust yourself.

So fight, dear friends, fight the dream eaters!
Rise up, revolt, rebel!
Hold tight to your dreams and slay those who would steal them from you.
Fear not these beasts, for fear has been overcome by valiant courage.
Starve them with neglect, and slit their throats with their own falsehoods.
End their evil ways and crash their distorted faces on the rocks.
