Am I wrong?
Am I an evil peson?
God forgive me if I am.
What makes the Right right?
Is it the absolute convictions?
The want to help the unfortunate?
The want of a moral fortitude?
Is it the amplitude
of their message
that I can't go two minutes
without being condemned
for questioning what's in it?
Is it the needful neglect
to filter out reason
and other opinions that suspect
they need to respect
rather put down,
reject,
rather than pull in
ideas so selective
the really needful don't get in.
Am I a bad person for not agreeing?
Am I a heretic for smelling diner before I eat?
Am I wrong for not wanting to be told what to do,
badgered because my morals are different,
like it's somehow wrong to use my Constitutional rights?
Maybe I am a bad person.
Maybe I am asking for too much, like equality.
Maybe I am wrong.
God help us if I am wrong.

Perhaps this should be entitled;
'Religion's Left U.S.' - it would be cool.
Almost as cool as this poem. Almost - I don't think i've seen it explained better before.
Worth reading again, CodyJ.
Keep writing. |
