My Morning

The night succumbs,
To the birds crisp chirping
My eyes groggy with sleep
Flutter open; refusing
To acknowledge the new day
Lasers of sunshine,
Playing games of peek-a-boo
From the cracks of the shaded window
Give away to the secret behind them
Rusty images broken
Dreams quietly hiding away
Will come back wrecked
Taunting my memory
The buzzing annoyance
Steals my attention
6:30 flashing furiously
Slapping down against the rigid buttons
Banishing the garbled music
As my body begs for sleep

Talk about rude awakenings! Don't we all have mornings like that? Well expressed. Cheers! |
