You Changed That
~~~~
I remember a day
Not so long ago
When the days were long
And the weeks went slow
Where laughter was seldom
Forced were the smiles
We were looking for something
That we felt was worth while
Decisions about children
Were ones very hard to make
We didn’t want to make them
Based on loneliness sake
But the love in our hearts
Was ready to overflow
So our fears about parenting
Simply had to go
And from the minute you were born
Everything changed
Our entire way of life
Was entirely rearranged
You brought to us something
That was completely real
You showed us how a little child
Could make us feel
You changed us in a way
That nothing else could
You moved us in a way
That nothing else would
I’ll be forever grateful
To you my son
You’ve showed me where love
Really comes from
