I remember
Screaming
Shouting
Everyday
I remember
Running
To a corner
Or under a table
I remember
The tears
The cries
When we were supposed
To be happy
I remember
The pain
The sorrow
The loneliness
I remember
Every kick
Every punch
Every bruise
I remember
Though I wish I couldn’t
Wish I couldn’t remember
Such a horrible childhood

Some things are so hard to forget. And then, there are times when we think we have forgotten only to be blindsided by a memory. Ugh. I hope your memories fade and drift away and leave you with only peace.
