in an untouchable world
of white & blue
where the trees are bare
and each brandch & twig is covered with a layer of glittering ice
as if part of the world has been placed in an enourmous freezer
but a not-yet frozen river flows quietly
while reflections smile back at their real image
snow thats been collecting high in the trees
falls with a "thud" every once in awhile
the snow has temporarily stopped falling from the sky
the warth of the sun slowly melts away the blanket of snow
like an ice cube left out to disappear
the ball of shy light hides behind a cloud,
waiting for winter to weaken
(AUTHOR NOTE: I was assigned a picture in my Language Arts class and I was to write a poem about that picture. In the poem I had to include: personification, an alliterations, a metaphor, and a simile. It still needs some work but I thought it was pretty good for being written in the short about of time I had to write it. Thanks for reading!)
