LOVER'S SPAT (with my TV)

Contributed by KM on Tuesday, 10th December 2002 @ 10:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

I hate you for what you are
The thing you’ve created
From the ashes of promise
And broken visions lone fragment

I hate you for the pain
I hate you for the sorrow
I hate you for the ashes
I hate you for tomorrow

I hate you for the lies
Of broken dreams that you promote
And the screams never heard
by more than one lonely viewer

I hate you for the greed
I hate you for the false sincerity
I hate you for the empty pit
I hate you for this reality

I hate you for your one-eyed drool
“Oozing along the livingroom floor”
I hate you for Howie Mandell
as the Goddamn LAMEST excuse for …

I hate you for Jerry Springer
I hate you for Opra, Maury and Rosie
I hate you for the Fresh Prince
and Clinton’s remorse
I hate you for any and all Andy Roonie

I hate you for New Panties Pro Be
I hate you for Flexible Gathers
I hate you for My Cats Urinary Tract Health
I hate you for MaCain’s Pizza blather

I hate you for the half-truths you promote
I hate you for the fantasy life you imply
I hate you for numbing the minds
of these people
I hate you for spinning your web
of pure lies

I hate you for the remote
That won’t quite shut you up
I hate you for the way you promote
Simple trash as society’s hope

I hate you for your half hr. commercials
I hate you for babysitting unknowing children
I hate you for materialistic smokescreens
I hate you for each one's early indoctrination

I hate you for showing yourself
In the bar when I try to escape you
I hate you for seeing your face
like a mask on those I thought I once knew

I hate you for the Mass hypnosis
I hate you for the snitch lines you sell us
I hate you for your greedy/sleazy pitchmen
I hate you for the lies and bull***t they tell us

I hate you when your noises
Echo from the mouths of your victims
I hate you when I see their minds
Dummied down and corrupted

But most of all I hate you
For being the insult you are
This just isn’t working
I want a divorce!

Kent Mackey

I AGREE! I hate TV as well for all those things you have said ... and stopped watching it about 2 1/2 years ago. It really bugs me when I see people I care about watching it blindly, their minds in a daze - it's all they ever do, it's like a drug.

Gee, where would we be without TV - perhaps we might actually make conversation, or sit with our children watching a sunset ... just my feelings .... and glad that one other person out there feels the same way.

Great poem.
Jan

Thanks... that was something I wrote about three years ago when I cancelled my cable. Three channels of drivel for nothing is so much less insulting than 40 or 50 channels all showing the same thing. There used to be a time when I would leave it on in the background if I was feeling particularly lonely (soon after separation) but it's just tooooo damned insulting to have in the house.
