Just as the artist smiles when his brush kisses his palette,
I writhe in the pleasures of life.
When the autumn wind blows and nature’s spectrum shifts,
I splash with glee my thoughts from my fingertips.
When the bricklayer completes his very first pyramid,
I bathe in the juicy lust of my canvas.
While the artist’s wooden board may have only three colors with which he creates wonders,
My pool of flavour and tints could drown a fish.
Though nature’s rainbow is a perfect Venus,
I am the lens which allows humanity to stare at Her beautiful sun.
And as clay and mud form together into the world’s oldest modern art movement,
I am the one who can truly appreciate grandeur for its simplicity.
Halfway between man and god,
I translate the blinding perfections of the universe into a speakable language.
I can kiss the stars and tell the master chef what they taste like.
The world is my child.
I can play with it, and it will play back,
But at the same time I must be careful and protect it from harm.
Halfway between man and god,
I am a poet.
