But Not Today

Contributed by misspurpledlw on Sunday, 6th February 2005 @ 10:32:12 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Several times a day I tell myself,
This is so very hard,
You may get hurt, and I say
Now just walk away.

Several times a day I tell myself,
You have opened your heart,
You are risking so much, and I say
Now just walk away.

Several times a day I tell myself,
You are not strong enough for this,
He can’t really care, and I say
Now just walk away.

Several times a day I tell myself,
Live for today, but thoughts intrude
Of the pain that may come and I say
Now just walk away.

Several times a day, I read his words
I hear his voice in my head,
I feel the touch of his lips and hands
And I say, but not today
Today I stay

This is interesting to me in that it denotes moments and times in which certain feelings appear and then fade. I too have moments which feel similar. I like this because it gives an accurate description of all those little times put together in one poem. Blessings.

Sad. Guess she finally walked away. Makes me wonder why I wasn't paying attention. Anyway, this provoked much thought. Thanks.
