If I had known

Grief
|
I'll see you tomorrow, Dad, I said;
in your hospital room that night.
Why didn't I say I love you,
you said you would be all right.
Tell your mother to bring my clothes, you said,
I'm coming home tomorrow.
You didn't know, neither did I,
mornings' light would bring such sorrow.
It was so hard for Mama, Dad;
her devotion to you was enduring.
You chose a keeper, Dad, in Mom,
her faith was so reassuring.
I'd already lost my son, Dad;
such heartbreak I've never known.
I didn't know that dance would be our last;
didn't know God would call him home.
Did the angels carry him, Dad,
from my arms to yours,
did you give him one last hug for me;
his life here was so brief, I've never known such grief;
from an instant to eternity.
Now Mama is with you, too, Dad,
my sister's son, Jeff, as well.
Tell them I love them, tell them I miss them;
as I wait for;
the pre-destined toll of the bell.

Oh, Dot, how much you have lost in life, say I love you to everyone, for each good-by may be the last, I know I've been there to often lately, hope the peace of Our Lord shines on your heart this season, |

Dot, This is simply beautiful, I truely love your work. I truely understand how you feel, and I feel your pain in each word you wrote.
I wish you peace and love this holiday season.

Thank you, Jeff. I wish very much sometimes that things would never change. However, that isn't reality. Bless you and yours, and have a wonderful Christmas. Dot |

Oh my I should not be reading such things on Christmas, I am choking back the tears on this.....I believe writing is good therapy, it lets out the pain in a tangible way that you can go back and see how far you have come. I can not imagine the pain of losing a child.
peace to you....
