(PROLOGUE)
My gift to you, should you behold, epic entries engraved in gold.
The story within will unfold a time of hope apropos.
Untamed hearts escape their cages forming bonds that last all ages.
Complete content comes in stages out of a sullen shadow.
My tale-- etched on gold leaf pages-- of love found in a shadow.
Take a look-- or never know.
(POEM)
On this windy and wintry day I've found my thoughts but lost my way.
Off of the beaten path I stray, misled by the falling snow.
I walk enchanted by the sight, paying no heed to fading light,
Until too late comes early night-- I must choose which way to go.
Wondering if my path is right, I wander blindly but go.
Life waits for none. This I know.
I keep searching but cannot see, the road ahead remains empty,
But, oh, how I do long to be caressed by a warming glow!
My careful steps ever slowing, I tread ahead never knowing
Where exactly I am going; my uncertainty does grow.
With my thoughts racing and flowing my uncertainty does grow.
What to do I do not know.
True love and pain I do proclaim, in all aspects except the name,
Are both exact-- the one and same hence the senses they bestow...
But should I agree to comply and to give love another try
Will the torment inside me die or will it proceed to grow?
I persist in questioning why as the doubts within me grow.
Will they stop? I do not know.
Alas, my mind does reminisce mortal display of Heav'nly bliss--
A warm embrace and gentle kiss! The raw wind does fiercely blow
Reminding me I'm all alone, utterly lost, away from home.
Ceasing my steps, reasons unknown, I rest beneath an elm's bough.
Shedding the salty tears I own I sit beneath that elm's bough
Dreaming dreams I'll never know.
Lost, alone, I perceive the cold, a twin emotion I withhold.
Memories commence and unfold bleeding wounds from long ago--
I remember, I can't forget, I am always forced to admit--
This is the best that it will get-- I await Death's dark shadow.
From behind comes a silhouette out of a darkened shadow
To take from me life I know.
Tiny voices start chanting jeers, amplifying internal fears,
Mocking all of the stinging tears that have now begun to flow.
For my souls release I am bound so I stand up and turn around
To face an end that's swift and sound coming from out the shadow.
My gaze travels across the ground as Death steps from the shadow.
Death's a man? I did not know.
I await His malicious strike-- a flash of steel-- Death's gleaming scythe,
Dead-determined to take my life to His heated world below.
As I shiver beneath this tree I notice Him observing me
Slowly He bows, submissively, knee deep in the sparkling snow.
This is not Death whom I do see kneeling in the sparkling snow.
Who He is I do not know.
A weary person had once told me to be cautious and behold,
"All that does glitter is not gold; what it is, in time, will show.
If you are taken by the arm, made to believe in falsely charm,
Following fulgor that feel warm, you will be led to your woe.
The only thing that comes is harm ensued by a time of woe.
Take my advice. This I know."
I cannot find words to express this intense desire to possess
A candid soul, though I confess, not so very long ago
I played a foolish game and lost; ultimately I paid the cost.
My beating heart's encased in frost from the trust I did bestow.
But is it Fate our ways were crossed? Faith in fate I wont bestow--
I wont trust before I know.
A lonely life is worse then death; withheld emotions hold no depth.
I long to speak but hold my breath for my confidence is low.
I coax myself yet I refuse-- I have no reason, no excuse.
Since I have nothing left to lose I have no desire to go.
If he approaches I will choose not to turn around and go.
Is this wise? I do not know.
He comes t'wards me I see his eyes-- an earthly hue of Heav'nly skies!
The impatient wind hoarsely sighs as its frustration does grow.
An awkward silence seems to start, we're standing now a breath apart,
Speaking no words yet with our heart we express what we wont show.
Aching souls yearning to impart what we feel but fear to show.
What comes next? I long to know.
In darkness I hear his heart beat, I feel his breath, his body heat;
I am relieved that we did meet as I feel a warming glow.
Standing still we remain silent. Pondering where my prudence went
I close my eyes; inhale his scent-- it's pure as the winter snow!
He must indeed be Heaven sent like the flawless flakes of snow...
But snow does not last I know.
The world stands still, my head does spin, pulsating waves pounding within.
Oh, it is a supernal sin basking in this divine glow!
To consciousness this does appeal, this reality seems surreal!
A single touch I have to steal and this time is apropos!
A simple soft stroke shall reveal, in this time that's apropos,
If what is-- is what I know.
Contingently I yearn to touch trembling from cold and fear and such.
Wanting to trust in this so much I extend my arm real slow.
Not everything is what it seems-- I was deceived before by dreams
Which were ripped apart at their seams when night decided to go.
Images faded like moon beams when night decided to go--
If this is real I must know.
He takes my hand, my heart takes flight, my soul soars to unfathomed height,
But does he share in this delight for the chance to let me go;
To free his grasp and let me fall just when I think I have it all?
Previous pain I can recall from a time not long ago.
Layers of ice hold me in thrall from that time not long ago...
Will they melt? I do not know.
I'm Earthly bound yet float above, I recognize this must be love.
The wind gives me a gentle shove in an encouraging blow.
My thoughts do race and run awry-- unknown if I should laugh or cry--
I feel the chill inside me die as he whispers his hello.
I open my eyes and reply a timid and shy hello.
Will love last? I do not know.
The wind whispers into my ear its gentle voice does soothe my fear.
My purpose is becoming clear as I watch the dancing snow:
We're bound to fall life is a dance, we're born in life to take that chance;
To live, to love, to find romance-- not to watch but join the show.
I can tell from a backward glance Destiny's design does show,
I just had to look to know.

Dear Springchic
"ONCE upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore —
While I nodded, nearly napping....." Ahhhhh Edgar would have been proud;
had you gone tapping on his door with this lovely poem of yours my friend:)
Absolutely love Poe
