The old houses,
Pride of the 1920s
Before the crash,
Fall before me
As the rats scurry
Before the crash.
And the ball’s swing
Arches high in aprehention,
Splinters the building,
Levels the masonry,
And settles to earth
While an old gentleman
With wide brimmed hat
And a paint brush
Swath of white hair
Extending below,
Cries a silver tear.
Dust from the crash.
