goodbye to Jim Fussell

I wanted to look away, not view the body, not because I didn’t care.
I preferred a living vision, but then I saw his daughter stroking his hair and there was Jim laid out so pale, dressed in his Sunday best.
The watery memories filled my eyes as anger filled my chest.
Beside him were his purple hearts and bronze star on display.
Is this how heroes die? How could heroes die this way?
Because some bureaucrat somewhere decided we could work in the dark?
Someone whose feet never hit the street thinks our job’s a walk in the park.
I want to meet that man face to face, and watch the fear in his eye
As a nation and god and one angry friend asks the question “why?”.
Today is not the time to assess the blame, there are too many hands to hold.
Too many tears to be hugged away, too many friends to be consoled.
We’ll fight for justice and for change, but today is not the day.
But tomorrow, come tomorrow, the post office has hell to pay

You go get em'....i admire people who stand up for what they beleive in...i never even knew that postal workers worked in the dark like this....which is a shame, you'd think the day was long enough without having to work at night after dark like this to...thanks for sharing this one it gives one alot to think of and if this person really passed away then my heart goes out to you and his family...
