Coming Home

Topic: DarkPoetry

Why should I even try to explain how my mind works
or how my thoughts go nowhere, while I'm heading in the wrong direction.
Never following my heart nor my mind but always listening to the little demon voice inside
Telling me to distrust, hate and decline everything that is being offered to me
Suppressing and hiding any form of emotion that might arise from within my soul
Until my heart is numb and has completely turned to stone

I feel nothing for you or anybody else
And no longer have I got feelings for myself
Detached from this world, I do not feel any connection with your decadence
It’s like floating in a vacuum, watching you from a distance, looking at you from afar
You cannot reach me let alone touch my soul; however I can always get to you
If you come to close I’ll blow you away
Keep a safe distance; do not attempt to try to make me care
You are of no interest to me
You’re just there, somewhere, on the outside and you cannot look in
Better you’d stay away,
I won’t offer you anything
And there’s nothing here for you to gain

I expelled my soul from this world in order to stay sane
Happy pills and cheap thrills numb the remaining pain
Clouds of intoxication keep me hanging on
And from the outside I look stable as I keep on smiling
While on the inside I crumble and I’m slowly dying

I can go on like this forever
Drowning in my wicked thoughts
Laughing with the world as it goes down
Watching Armageddon with a smile on my face
From an unconcerned brow
Embracing the eternal darkness and finally coming home

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
