The Young Worker

Contributed by bobotheclown on Sunday, 8th December 2002 @ 01:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

The workers work away
Scoop, shovel, scoop, shovel
As they endlessly toil
Covered in dirt and dried blood
Gas masks 'cshhhhing' away
Doing little to block the rancid smell,
The rancid smell of bodies
Lying ten thick
In a vast expanse of a once beautiful meadow

Stacking them on funeral pyres
Napalmed limbs drip from deformed bodies
The smoke rises up
Birds of prey eye their feast
With a luscious ambition
This is a slaughter, they tell their children
Never to be matched again
So enjoy it and gorge yourself

Workers collapse from exhaustion
The dead seems endless
The smoke blots out the sun
And bloated bodies explode
In the intense humidity
Workers, dehumanized as organs explode upon them
Still they work away
As their eyes become deep and soulless

Ares, the God of war is pleased
He looks down to the offereing
And rubs his hands with glee
The sickening stench is his perfume
The intestines he slicks his hair back with
Pleased with the offering
He dances a clumsy jig
Then sits down and watches

A young worker tears streaming downward
From the awful smell and waste of humanity
Scoops up a body
The severed arm slips from the face
Falling off revealing a face from hell
Eyes wide with terror
The young worker vomits
And drops the body, still alive
Where it sinks into the mud
The soldier screams as his limbs
Are reawakend with pain
The young worker takes his pistol
And with shaking hands
Shoots out the pleeding eyes
Then collapses upon the fresh corpse
Their bodies mold together
And they die locked in a death embrace
Ares, the God of war looks down
And smiles, his eyes glinting with pleasure

And skin peels off
As workers, work way
Amidst the devastation
Amidst the unsettling atmosphere
Amidst the napalmed bodies
And sun blasted limbs

Very descriptive. A little gory, yes, but an excellent write. When you have time, check out my poem titled, "The Force in the Bathroom." You just might like it.

Hmm.... I like this, a bit gory.... but..... show emotions all the same. Just remind me never to go to war.... I'd be puking all the time...
