I watched his kids for him one night.
We ate dinner watched movies and played I spy.
And then I asked him,
Anthony, who do you admire?
And with the frankness of only a child he said,
My Daddy, my hero
I picked him up and we walked upstairs,
It was time for a story and to say his prayers.
Lord bless my mommy, my brother, and my daddy, my hero.
Then he looked at me and said, When's daddy comin' home?
I picked him up and I held him tight,
Searched for the words to make everything all right.
How do you tell a child of four,
Daddy may never come home?
I watched him till he fell asleep,
Then dropped to my knees and started to weep.
He had a smile that would fill a room,
One I prayed I'd see again soon.
Oh, Anthony when's your daddy comin' home.
I watched his kids for him one night.
We ate dinner, watched movies, and played I spy.

Sad but so sweet. My children were raised without their father around and I didn't realize till they were grown what an impact it was on them. He's back around town now and the two girls a re more forgiving than my son. He did try tho but when his started the drinking again he gave up on his dad. My son being the oldest remembera the times his dad chosse alcahol over his family. He's trying to be a father to them and his second set of kids after me. He will never know the wonders he missed in our children. I can give him credit for the dna but that's about it.
Sorry didn't mean to write a book but this write jus trigered my writing fingers.
I hope the father reads this write 'cause it jus might turn him around before it's too late.
A masterpeice of pain but the beauty of the littl guy makes it so beautifull.
luv, huggs, smiles,
emy |
