Dont we care??

How bright the sun shines
How beautiful the deep blue sky
Gentle breezes touch me
Clouds so fluffy, so high
An amazingly joyous day
But a descending loom hangs over
As war and violence are present
We can fell its pains and sadness
Covering this world
As many people suffer and die
In an aura of darkness and death
We brought upon ourselves
By our tolerance of abuse
Tiny lights of love reach out towards
From the sky’s above
Working harder each day, to reach our world
And brighten our atmosphere
To lighten our way
But the gunshots bellow loudly
Across our lands and seas
As the death toll rises, mothers cry out
There is war in our world
Don't we care?

Well said. The people we elect don't seem to care. Maybe it's because they will never be able to match a face to a body bag. Keep writing. I hope you will read my poem, "War No More." |
