Story of a Rose

Grief

I hold these petals in my plam,
The crimson colors all faded and withdrawn.
Once they were vibrant and bright,
Like the love in my past, a memory, a light.
Do you remember when they sparkled and glowed?
So soft and fragile - like my love - I didnt know.
The flowers slowly wilted, the petals began to fall.
So I wrapped them in leather and hoped time could stall.
What a fool I was to keep them, to hold on -
Until the petals were stale and this love all gone.
I stare at them now, my heart empty and cold,
And wonder when the next story of a rose will be told.
