Dark Descendence

Contributed by lilschizoboy07 on Saturday, 29th January 2005 @ 06:22:36 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

How could such a bright, shining baby
Become such a dark, demented thing?
How could a fire that burned so bright
Leave embers blacker than a moonless night?
A kingdom once strong and united
Now torn between 2 kings.
A mind that once was strong
Now decimated by split personalities.
His grip on what was real was strong
but now he lives in 2 realities:
The nightmare of what has become of him,
And the fantasy of what he could have been.
From sun to shadow
A dark descendence
Such a friendly boy
Now broods in the darkest corner
and curses everything
Yet ther is hope
Rays of light penetrate the fear and hatred
They break straight through the shell he made for himself
And encourage him to reach out a tentative hand.
They form a rope with which to pull himself out But there are some things to push him back
sledgehammers of humiliation The impending smokescreen of fear
The mist of the unknown
They repell him
Form a shell around him
And fortify themselves
But wherever ther is darkness there is a little light:
Tendrils of love and friendship
And wherever ther is evil ther is a lttle hope:
help me.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
