Understanding

Contributed by Willofree on Friday, 28th January 2005 @ 12:52:06 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

She sat across the table gazing at me
Her beautiful hazel eyes, sometimes blue sometimes green
Windows to her soul open and revealing
There was something sad in her demeanor
A forced smile and quivering lip
A tear ran down her cheek
I felt as though I caressed a trembling bird in my hand
So vulnerable, so apprehensive
Feeling shut out and distant from me
More tears began to flow as her fears were revealed
She experienced me as quiet and withdrawn
Avoidant, rather distant and aloof
She looked at me with soft and pleading eyes
And almost whispered her deepest hurt
She was feeling she had lost her best buddy
"I want my buddy back," she sobbed
I felt a lump in my throat
As my tears also began to spill
I felt so sorry for the lack of communication
I explained I just didn't want to hurt her
"And this doesn't hurt?", she quipped
dreadfully sorry for the misunderstanding
So I shared my inner feelings
Oh how easy it is to drift apart
But with love and care, we are back heart to heart
