Never Defeated

I need you.
Where are you?
Where have you gone?
Where are we?
I need you with me.
I can't live alone.
Please, I need you.
Life is so dark without your radiance,
So cold without your embrace,
So lonely without your smile,
So ugly without your face.
I cannot force myself to believe
This is a childhood crush.
I cannot believe you mean nothing to me.
Not when everything
I've done was for you,
Not when all I
Told you was the truth,
Not when you're in
My mind all the time,
Not when, for you,
I've written the prettiest rhymes.
How could this be fake?
How is this all a charade?
How could this be forsaken?
How, after all we've made?
They told me I was being
Taken for a ride,
I stayed with you through
All that and besides.
When they chided me
For being a fool,
I remained
Through that too.
Now have we been defeated by the miles,
The longing for a smile,
To be together for a while,
The warmth of a hug,
The taste of love,
Love's joys compiled,
To a list of,
Various bereavements,
So many concessions,
Have we learned our lesson,
To quit testing,
To take our leave,
To finally concede,
All I know is me,
I'll never admit defeat.
