284. Lasting Love
I loved a lovely lass,
Loved her in war and plenty;
And, as the years did pass,
And our times grew flinty;
Loved her more and more,
As she held me steady,
A priceless love to the core,
At love's summit, heady.
Her love she did not restrain,
Always at the ready.
She loved me in sun or rain,
Her love always steady.
Sixty-five years of love
We have given.
Me to her, her to me,
The pure love of heaven.
May God grant us many more;
And thanks for the love He has given.
May we feast before love's door,
Until we land in heaven.
285. Living Love
Love is a living lyre,
Tunes of our life afire.
Love is a breathing thing,
Tunes given wings.
Love is the food of living,
Harvested by the giving.
Love is a fiery fire,
Of which we do not tire.
Love is kindled in the breast,
Of any, where love has pressed.
Love is the magic wand,
A light when couples bond.
Love is the life of living,
An urge for giving.
And love is the axle rod
Bearing the load love has trod.
Love is a kindred feeling
That sends our senses reeling;
And weeds out a fraud,
Golden gifts from God.
