Being in love by ones self is not good,
For some it's not easily understood.
Though try all you may...
To make everyday a happy day,
As with respect so with love, one should give,
In order to recieve, at some point in your relationship,
It's time you truly concieve, for years I misunderstood...
Being in love by myself for so long...
Is sad, lonesome... not good.
We live and breath for them,
By their side through thick and thin...
But when that same loves not returned
There is a lesson here to be learned,
Your heart, self esteem...all burned.
Sooner for some longer for others it's understood,
That being in love by ones self is lonely, hurtful ...not good.
We deserve to be happy every waking day,
No matter what some may say...
It doesn't make for a happy home.
When your love wants to roam,
I'm better off left alone...
Tired of sitting by the phone,
Tired of waiting up for the sound...
From the turn of your door key,
That's the last time you'll turn the key on me.
You no longer love me, keeping me in constant misery.
Now there's no you and me,
It took me some time to really see...
That you're no longer in love with me.
Myself...allowing you to mentally and emotionally abuse me,
Blinded for years, but now I see.
Finally admitting something...I thought I never could,
Being in love by myself for all these years...
Was never any good.
I almost put my heart on the shelf,
Till I realized it all starts with self...
You can't make anyone love you,
No matter how hard you try...
Time to wake up stop fooling yourself.
For years living a lie, no matter what you do,
Sometimes love just dies.
After years of looking through your loves eyes.
Time to start anew...
Excepting that love really don't love you,
Someone has come along, he loves me faithfully,
Replacing all the years of pain...
Nothing but smiles, and sunshine...
No more room for rain.
Finally it's understood that being in love...
With that Special Someone that truly loves you in return...
Is all that is right and good.
Only you know when it's time to let go and start living for self again!

Respecting oneself is so essential, but you're right...so many of us easily sacrifice that when we love another. That kind of love is not healthy and seldom lasting. I'm glad you've found the real thing.
