The Ambulance Sings A Song For Us All

a car horn sounds
and everything turns black
Nothingness...
Four hours later what’s left
is placed on a stretcher
with a blanket over its head
A crowd has gathered
to view the wreckage
and news crews are finding ways
to turn tragedy into ratings
The site of blood and the presence of death
has become a form of entertainment
and the collision of two vehicles head-on
makes for a great story amongst the children
while those unfortunate
to fall witness to such catastrophe
oddly find themselves
lucky enough to be on TV
And me?
Well, I’m barely alive as it is:
Memories will always embrace a tragic ending,
but what’s left to embrace the memory
when faced with our own demise?

I got a ride in an ambulance once. I was okay after all - not everyone dies or is even close. But yeah, those paramedics sure see a lot of death and injuries. Nice write - sort of a tribute to the paramedics, I think. Cheers! |
