no more challenging myself
to drink until I pass out
I never liked not remembering
the night before
no more breathing in the smoke
that destroys my lungs
I forgot what it felt like to run
without pain
I want to be healthy
I want to become the me
that I see when I close my eyes and dream
I don't want the end to come any sooner than it should be
I'm taking this year to add years to my life
I'm using this year to make things right
... and I suggest you do the same

Makes me think hard. A short poem but the words are so effective. Excellent! |

Yes well expressed and a fair piece of advice. But never forget that the real world sometimes makes it down right difficult to pursue our best laid plans. I guess what I'm trying to say (if I understood it correctly) is don't be too harsh on yourself if you don't change things at your first attempt. Real factors have a habit of sometimes getting in the way. I mean, I took 15 attempts to give up smoking. That's the truth. And, I feel bloody worse now than when I smoked ..lol
