You & I

Contributed by Jeff_Scott_Morehead on Tuesday, 25th January 2005 @ 08:10:47 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

You & I
~~~~
You and I
Are moving in different directions
Placing blame
On each others affections
We’re drifters
Looking beyond each other’s eyes
Placing a deaf ear
To each other’s cries
We’re gamblers
Playing a dangerous game
Clearly seeing the facts
But playing it just the same
We’re stone-faced
Stubborn to a fault
Opening new wounds
But doctoring them with salt
We’re fools
Not realizing what we have
Gambling with our lives
Running up a high tab
Maybe someday we’ll wake up
Hopefully not too late
Wipe the cobwebs from our eyes
And wipe clean the slate
You have described a situation I know all too well and done so with depth and finesse. I hope the last two lines become reality for you as they did for me.
You need to put the apostrophe after the "s" in others' to make it plural and you missed it in the third line.
