$40,000,000.00? For What?

$40,000,000.00? For What?

From the desks of fools and fomented minds
Words, phrases and metaphor of trivial worth
The patchwork dispatch to the plebian state
And through this print into homes and street
Has merit inception in study alone
As institute condones the paper and words
Is all devoured, scorched and stained
What those of might wish us to be?

The funds of spoil and pillaged wage
Prevail ‘bove liberty, freedom and home
Directives where and how to spend
But given those in whom gave trust
Hath the blackest campaigns
Been exposed to the light

In chambers silent and words exchanged
Self ordained masters of that which should be
And freedom fades into all that is gray
Tones and no shades nor black nor white
Subjective to all that should not be such
So simple the preference of hearts guiding hand
Yet cranial pummeled into final submit
And numbers of ayes outweigh the heart

As natives, mothers and sons disappear
Whilst tending remote for to not miss a show
And battles in vain for the glory of one
To instill in archives a legend so bland
And timeline reveals not a blip or a scratch
From the sands of despair and valleys of waste
Emerges the truth and what principle lost

A wave of such power when least be aware
Devours the lives, homesteads and fields
Where culture exists on the whim of a few
Of torment and anguish hope now is gone
Tis the verdict decreed one which can be reversed?
Think not of this choice as the forge has shut down
To cast a new soul won’t happen this time.

To consign a value but for only one?
Or has the scale of injustice been moved to the right
If human and not could be un-muted and heard
Would the deaf in the halls be willing or?
A smile as the horses parade by the moat
Drawbridge secured to repel those of truth
Media madness and affair just to see
While tears are repeated time after time
On palm vanquished shores, not here at home

Defending a paper of cultural choice
Imposing ones will to those who care not
For dogma is that and unwilling at best
To open a door to tradition and faith
And not interfere where the table is full
Was there a request to come to thy aid?
Was there a request to assist in my strife?
Was there a request to clean up my home?
Did anyone hear these words or retort?
Elections of question and disorganized plight
Will anyone know of what change will occur?

Somehow the values “perhaps” and “what is”
Will find their way through prayer and truth
Democracy of what, who and how?
Were we given the choice celebrate and proclaim
That some were deceived and some did not know
Were I given the choice of hope or a dance
I would surely choose hope
As it cannot be torn, burned or soiled
A paper once signed but did all have a say?
A paper is that and ink fades away
But lives, souls and love remain in the heart

To give from the heart is the purest of love
Compassion is missing in chambers and votes
Were we asked of our input affecting a choice?
For history remembers the fool and the vane
And those of the ravage shall be redeemed in their hope

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
