The Burning

The Burning

Those smells that fill the night
The shade of red on metal
My armor stained
With what once
Was alive
And now
Dead

My sword cries from all the innocent kills
But it knows it was the only way
We both have to become blind
And seal emotion away
How many fathers and sons and brother have I?
I really killed tonight
And what is the number I would be in
If I ever had taken count

There are hundreds of bodies before me
The smell is getting to me

The burning and dead flesh

But I have to hold on
I can not seem weak
Or seem like I feel something right now

The smoke has become like a second sky
You cannot see the roof tops anymore
I can hear babies crying but cannot see where they are
Everything is on fire and they may die tonight
But I have yet killing to do
I have saved mothers and the children tonight
But is that enough to make amends
For all the ones I cannot

The children escape some how
Their mothers are with them
They went underground
I am very happy but can not show
For I have yet killing to do tonight

A sword pierces my armor
And there is the shade of red on metal
It is a young boy behind me
I push him away and send him to his mother
For I have yet killing to do tonight
And can not die this way

I have not made amends

Okay. I have to add you as one of the "Knights" of YPDC. I may get around to it tomorrow. This was an interesting story. Cheers!
